Commander Jerry Mollohan

Welcome to St. Albans, West Virginia, home of the "All America” VFW Post 6418, established on October 3, 1957. As of March 2026, Post 4995 in Thomasville, Georgia, boasted an impressive membership rate of 139.39%. With just fifteen new members, St. Albans VFW Post 6418 could surpass that, reaching a membership rate of 140.67%.
I need your help with signing up new members.

 POST SUMMARY
The All-American program recognizes outstanding teamwork, leadership, achievement, and membership growth in VFW Programs, and Post 6418 is excelling. Right now, VFW Post 6418 has 69 members with an impressive 116.94% membership rate. Annual Members are encouraged to upgrade to Life Membership—there are already 47 Life Members. Life Members can also consider moving up to Gold Legacy Life Membership by visiting vfw.org to manage renewals or upgrades. With steady growth, St. Albans VFW Post 6418 is well on its way to earning both.
"All-State” and "All-American” honors.

VFW Post 6418 is on the rise, and we’re welcoming more veterans to be part of our expanding membership, activities, and community outreach. Our biggest project so far, The Moving Wall, needs extra hands and support. We’re raising funds to cover insurance, materials for the platform that will hold the panels, and transportation costs. You can also help out by purchasing gun raffle tickets or lending a hand with ticket sales.

Take a look at the VFW Post 6418 website and pitch in whenever possible. If you have questions, ideas, or need help and want to chat, don’t hesitate to reach out. VFW.org offers plenty of training and resources, so be sure to explore all that’s available on the VFW National Website. If you haven’t yet, create an account to set up a personalized "MY VFW” for each veteran. Every time you visit VFW.org, you can head straight to "MY VFW” for quick access to loads of helpful information.

For the 2025–2026 VFW Administrative Year, our goal is to welcome 100 new members by June 1, 2026. With teamwork, we can make it happen. I’m counting on everyone to help us reach this milestone, and I’m confident we will. Thanks to membership feedback, we know we’re only thirty-one members away from hitting our target.

Meetings are held at 1011 Pennsylvania Ave. on the third Thursday of every month. The next one is scheduled for May 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Arrive early to enjoy informal conversations and take part in the "The Moving Wall" Committee Meeting.

St. Albans VFW Post 6418 is looking for a Chaplain for the 2026–2027 term. If you’re interested, know a member who might be, or are a veteran wanting to join our Post, we’d love to hear from you. Contact the Commander at 304.982.1309 (call or text) or email vfwriderspost6418wv@gmail.com.

According to Article II, Section 216 of the National Bylaws, VFW Post officer nominations take place every March. For Post 6418, nominations were held on March 19, 2026, with elections for six positions following on April 16, 2026. The election report has been sent to the State VFW Headquarters, and the newly elected 2026-2027 officers will be installed on May 21, 2026.
Officers are installed before the Department Convention, but do not assume duties until the Department Commander is installed.

VFW Post 6418 Officer positions:
1) Commander
2) Senior Vice Commander
3) Junior Vice Commander
4) Quartermaster
5) Chaplain
6) 3-Year Trustee

In the VFW, the 3-Year Trustee automatically moves up to become the 2-Year Trustee the next year, and the 2-Year Trustee then steps into the 1-Year Trustee role the following year. It’s a set process—no re-election needed—as they simply shift roles after completing their 3-Year Trustee term. Guidance for this can be found in Sections 215-217.

At the April meeting, delegates for the National Convention and the WV VFW District 2 Convention were chosen based on membership numbers as of March 31. St. Albans VFW Post 6418 is eligible to elect two voting delegates. The District 2 Convention, hosted by Mason VFW Post 9926, took place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Serenity Hills, 516 Adams Street, Mason, West Virginia 25260.

All VFW Post 6418 officers and members should get acquainted with the 2026 edition of the following:

TRAINING & SUPPORT - VFW

The main rules for all St. Albans VFW Post 6418 activities come from the VFW National By-Laws and Manual of Procedure. The By-Laws lay out the basics, while the Manual of Procedure provides more detail. These guide everything the Veterans of Foreign Wars does and aren’t open to interpretation. They’re written plainly and mean exactly what they say.

Incoming officers of St. Albans VFW Post 6418 should refer to Section 218 of the Manual of Procedure, which details the responsibilities of each Post Officer.

Section 220 of the National By-Laws/Manual of Procedures, titled "Removal - Department," states that the Department Commander has the authority to remove any Post officer within their Department for cause if they fail to carry out their duties as outlined in Section 218.
