FAQ's

Subscription dues are just like a magazine subscription. It gives you 365 days of membership in the VFW. With this being the first year that they are coming into effect, it will be a process that we are not used to. The basic breakdown of what is going to happen is:

If you are an annual member and you pay your dues before Jan your expiration will be January 2026. If you pay after that date, whatever day your dues are processed at National will be the new expiration date. An example would be that you sent in your dues to National on 1 Feb 2026, and National processed them on 15 Feb. Your new expiration date would be 15 Feb 2027.

Annual membership dues are $35 and are due on the anniversary of the date you joined the VFW
or the date of your yearly renewal.

When you complete your membership application and submit it to Post 6418 Quartermaster, a $35 membership fee for your first year is due. Life memberships are also available, and the fees/dues
vary according to your age at the time of application. 
 
Attend Meetings of VFW Post 6418 on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Meetings begin at 6 pm
The location is 1011 Pennsylvania Ave., St. Albans, West Virginia.
 

VFW Post 6418 – Guidance on Accessing VA Benefits Assistance

During our meetings, especially under "For the Good of the Order,” members are encouraged to raise questions regarding VA benefits, claims, or assistance needs. This is the most effective way to receive support, as it allows multiple experienced Veterans to provide input.

Department-Level Support

A VFW VA Representative is a member of the Department of West Virginia VFW and is available as a resource. While this representative can assist, the most direct and efficient path to help begins at the Post level during our regular meetings.

Post-Level Support

VFW Post 6418 maintains a designated Benefits Advisor who is available to help Veterans navigate benefits questions, provide guidance, and direct individuals to the appropriate VA resources.

Peer Assistance

Our meetings consistently include experienced Veterans who are knowledgeable about VA processes, claims, and benefits. These members are always willing to assist fellow Veterans and share their experience.

Recommendation

It is highly recommended that Veterans seeking assistance attend the next VFW Post 6418 meeting. Bringing your questions forward during the meeting ensures you receive timely, accurate, and collective guidance from those present.
