About the Charleston Vet Center

The Charleston Vet Center is the primary federal counseling and support facility serving veterans throughout the Kanawha Valley, including St. Albans and surrounding communities. The center provides confidential, community‑based services designed to support veterans, service members, and their families.

Located just off Greenbrier Street near Yeager Airport, the facility is approximately 12–15 minutes from VFW Post 6418, St. Albans.

 

Services Provided

Vet Centers typically offer a wide range of counseling and support programs, including:

  • Individual, group, and family counseling for combat veterans

  • PTSD and military sexual trauma (MST) counseling

  • Bereavement and grief support

  • Readjustment counseling for post‑deployment transition

  • Substance use support and referrals

  • Assistance with VA benefits and claims referrals

  • Community outreach and veteran engagement programs

The Charleston Vet Center maintains strong partnerships with VFW Posts across Kanawha County and regularly participates in local veteran‑focused initiatives.
