LETTER FROM VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS OF THE UNITED STATES
ST. ALBANS, WEST VIRGINIA - VFW POST 6418
LETTER TO VFW-ELIGIBLE VETERANS
Subject: Invitation to Join the Veterans of Foreign Wars
Dear Veteran,
On behalf of the members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6418, we extend a formal invitation for you to consider joining our organization. The VFW is a congressionally chartered, combat‑veteran service organization dedicated to advocacy, community service, and the preservation of the traditions of military service. Our strength comes directly from veterans like you who have served honorably in overseas locations in defense of the United States.
Membership in the VFW is based on verified overseas service. To qualify, a veteran must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national who has served honorably and has earned qualifying campaign medals, served in a designated foreign conflict zone, or otherwise met the criteria established in the VFW National Bylaws. If you possess a DD‑214 or equivalent documentation reflecting such service, you may be eligible to join.
The VFW is governed democratically at every level. Post officers, District officers, Department officers, and National officers are elected by the membership. This ensures that the organization’s leadership remains accountable to its members and that every veteran has a voice in shaping the future of the VFW.
The VFW’s legislative priorities—such as improving VA healthcare, strengthening veterans’ benefits, and supporting military families—are established through resolutions submitted by Posts and Departments and voted on by delegates at annual conventions. By joining, you contribute directly to the national advocacy efforts that protect and advance the rights of all veterans.
At the local level, our Post remains actively engaged in community service, veterans’ assistance, youth programs, patriotic education, and support for families of deployed service members. Your participation strengthens these efforts and expands our ability to serve.
As a member of VFW Post [Number], you will gain:
Camaraderie with fellow overseas‑service veterans
Opportunities for leadership and community involvement
Direct influence on national veterans’ policy
Access to VFW programs, service officers, and support resources
A continued sense of mission and service beyond active duty
If you believe you meet the eligibility requirements, we encourage you to contact us; click on this text to contact us now by Phone/Text or email. Please be ready to provide your DD‑214 or other service documentation for verification. We will assist you with the application process and answer any questions you may have.
We would be honored to welcome you into our ranks and continue the proud tradition of service that defines the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Respectfully,
St. Albans, West Virginia VFW Post 6418 Veterans
