Last year, VFW-accredited service officers recovered $16.2 billion in earned VA benefits for veterans and their families, at no cost to anyone.
National Veterans Service (NVS) has helped secure what they earned for more than a century. The VFW operates the program. The VFW Foundation funds the training, technology, and infrastructure that keep it running and free to every veteran.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Cooke Funeral Home, Nitro.
A Celebration of Chuck’s Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be rendered immediately following the service, also at Cooke Funeral Home.
A private entombment will take place at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, West Virginia.
