VFW NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE - STILL SERVING
 
VFW Post 6418 will be collecting Backpacks and personal items to be placed in backpacks and made available to those in need.
We have placed a donation collection box at Kanawha Terrace IGA.
It will be there through about May 10, 2026.  See below for Personal Items Needed.
PERSONAL ITEMS NEEDED.  AND WE NEED ONE HUNDRED (100) BACKPACKS AND LOTS OF PERSONAL ITEMS THAT WILL GO IN THE BACKPACKS.
Call/Text Commander at 304-982-1309 if you have items or backpacks to be picked up, or if you have a check or cash donation you wish the VFW Post 6418 Commander to pick up.  You can also donate using our "DONATE NOW" button or mail a check or money order to St. Albans VFW Post 6418 at PO Box 507, St. Albans, West Virginia 25177. Make the check or money order payable to VFW Post 6418.

Opening Ceremonies for THE MOVING WALL will be held on June 27, 2026.

THE MOVING WALL
 As we prepare for the arrival of The Moving Wall on June 25th, 2026, VFW Post 6418
has a busy schedule of community events & service projects.
We invite all members and supporters to participate in:
  • VFW Day of Service: Join us this May as we give back to our local community.

  • Buddy Poppy Drives: Help us generate vital funds for Veterans in Need by donating to our VETERANS RELIEF FUND. Send a check/MO made payable to St. Albans VFW Post 6418, Attn: Veterans Relief Fund. Mail to: VFW Post 6418 at PO Box 507, St. Albans, WV 25177

  • Backpacks4Veterans: Supporting our homeless brothers and sisters with essential supplies. This program will also serve as VFW Post 6418's "Day of Service" in May 2026. Backpacks containing personal items will be available to those in need.

  • Scout of The Year: Applications for St. Albans VFW Post 6418 were due to the Post by March 1st, 2026 - See Details under "Programs."  The deadline to turn in to the National VFW HQ was April 1st, 2026.
  
VFW Post 6418 is also focused on Officer Training, Recruitment, and Grant Writing to ensure our post remains strong and sustainable. Whether it's through an Honor Guard detail or a local outreach event, there are many ways to get involved. Contact us today to learn how you can help.
 
VFW Post 6418 website admins and potential admins should be aware that an online VFW6418 website training class is held every Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m., hosted by the VFW National Webmaster. If you are interested in becoming an "Admin," please let us know. Contact the Commander. We are currently seeking members who wish to get involved in this specialized effort.

From West Virginia State HQ: The 2026 State VFW Convention is June 18–21, 2026.
Deadline for reserving a room is May 15, 2026.

The District 2 Convention was Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Mason VFW Post 9926 (12 p.m.)
District 2 Officers were elected for the new VFW Administrative Year 2026 - 2027, and
New Bylaws were voted on and approved. 
The next District 2 Meeting will be Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Elkview VFW Post 8516 (12 p.m.)
