Among the duties of the Post Adjutant, the Adjutant shall:
 
Maintain a current copy of the St. Albans VFW Post 6418 Bylaws, Manual of Procedure, and Ritual of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, and copies of the Bylaws of the St. Albans VFW Post 6418, Department of West Virginia, and District 2.
 
Duties of the Post Adjutant are set forth in Section 218 (a) (6) of the Manual Procedure.
 
Section 218(a)(6) of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Manual of Procedure details the specific duties and obligations of the Post Adjutant. It designates them as the official corresponding officer who attests to all documents, maintains Post records, and safeguards official meeting minutes.
The Post Adjutant’s core responsibilities under this section include:
  • Official Correspondence: Preparing official reports/returns under the direction of the Post Commander and attesting to official communications with their signature.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintaining clear, uniform, and legible books and records, including digital versions (which require regular backups).
  • Required Files: Retaining a file of original membership applications, corrected and approved meeting minutes, and copies of all current Bylaws, the Manual of Procedure, and the Ritual.
  • Availability: Ensuring Post records are kept at the Post facility and remain available for inspection by authorized officers and members.
  • Successor Transfer: Promptly transferring all books, records, and papers to a successor in office.
