  • The Post Commander represents the authority of Post 6418 between meetings, and his voice is that of Post 6418 Membership. Post 6418 Commander serves as the representative of the Post 6418 membership, with authority to act and speak on their behalf between official meetings. The VFW Post 6418 Commander ensures smooth operations by overseeing key functions, including audits, finances, and housekeeping.
  • As Commander of VFW Post 6418, it is part of my responsibilities to oversee and maintain all Post 6418 property. Includes Post 6418 'Colors,' awards, and all other properties.

VFW Post 6418 is beginning to experience the meaning of SUCCESS.
HOW WILL WE CONTINUE OUR SUCCESS? WE SHOULD STRIVE TO IMPROVE.
The achievement of meaningful goals and a sense of fulfillment.
Find volunteers from the Post to form committees with the following aims:
1. Financial: Provides plans and ideas for fundraisers and other activities designed to develop funds for planned Post activities and programs.
2. Membership: Develop ideas to increase membership and activities focused on the retention of members. Develop teams within Post 6418 to make contact with new member prospects.
Support developing public relations campaigns, newsletters, welcoming committees, and all activities promoting membership of the Post.
3. Programs: Develops post activities and programs that benefit the majority of the members, create good public relations, co-sponsor community activities, and provide the public with information on Americanism and youth programs. Remain open to ideas as they are presented from the floor.
The Post Commander serves as the representative of the Post's membership, exercising authority and speaking on their behalf between official meetings. They ensure the Post's operations run smoothly by overseeing key functions, including audits, finance, and the house committee.

    A VFW State Recruiter is a member appointed by the VFW Department (state-level organization) to focus on recruiting new members for the organization. They play a crucial role in growing the VFW membership by engaging with veterans and promoting the benefits of joining.

    Recruiter for St. Albans, West Virginia, VFW Post 6418 and 
    Post Membership Chairman
  • The VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post Membership Chairman is a key volunteer position responsible for recruiting new members and retaining existing ones. They act as the first point of contact for potential members, build relationships within the community, and report their activities to the Department Membership Chairman.

  • Backpacks 4 Veterans Chairman at St. Albans, West Virginia, VFW Post 6418.
  • Member of the Board of Directors, BACKPACKS 4 VETERANS
  • Summersville, West Virginia. Duties: Organizing groups of volunteers for the collection of donated personal items to be included in backpacks and presented to veterans who are currently receiving care at Veterans Hospitals and Homeless Veterans Outreach Facilities, and in some cases, we distribute these Backpacks, containing personal items, at a "VETERAN STAND DOWN."
  •   We did so at "VETERANS STAND DOWN" on Wednesday.
  •   November 5th, 2025, in Charleston, West Virginia, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., held at:
  •   Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center
  •   314 Donnally St., Charleston, West Virginia 25301.
  •   VFW Post 6418 & VFW Riders Post 6418 were there with more than FIFTY (50)
  •   Backpacks4Veterans. All distributed to Homeless Veterans. 
  •   Additionally, we had about Twenty Female veteran backpacks containing personal items.
  •   We donated to West Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers who are working without
  •   pay due to the government shutdown. Mission Accomplished!

If you are a veteran qualified to become a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and wish to accept the challenge of assisting other veterans, the officers, and members of VFW Post 6418 in our community, I would very much like to talk with you and help your involvement with our efforts to succeed, improve, and grow.
"WAGGING TAILS CHILI COOKOFF" was another community event that we successfully finished. It took place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Living Memorial Park in Nitro, West Virginia. For more details, see Event Details. Veterans on hand to answer questions from other veterans and their families, tickets for the gun raffle, the "Recruiting and Information Booth" at VFW Post 6418, the "Buddy" Poppy Drive, and much more, as we have done at our prior community events.  The VFW Administrative Year (2025–2026) saw numerous successful "Recruiting and Information" initiatives, culminating in 62 members and a 105.08% membership rate. A plus three over the previous year's final membership figure of 59. Additional members are to be added soon.
