Parents of High School and Middle School Students: Your children have an opportunity to compete for significant national scholarships through the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ annual Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen programs.
High School Students (Grades 9–12): Eligible to win scholarships up to $35,000 by submitting a 3–5‑minute recorded audio essay.2026–2027 Theme: "What a Veteran Has Taught Me About America.”
Middle School Students (Grades 6–8): Eligible to win scholarships up to $5,000 by submitting a 300–400‑word written essay. Patriot’s Pen Theme: Same as Voice of Democracy.
