VFW Post 6418 is on the rise, and we’re welcoming more veterans to be part of our expanding membership, activities, and community outreach. Our biggest project so far, The Moving Wall, needs extra hands and support. We’re raising funds to cover insurance, materials for the platform that will hold the panels, and transportation costs. You can also help out by purchasing gun raffle tickets or lending a hand with ticket sales.

According to Article II, Section 216 of the National Bylaws, VFW Post officer nominations take place every March. For Post 6418, nominations were held on March 19, 2026, with elections for six positions following on April 16, 2026. The election report has been sent to the State VFW Headquarters, and the newly elected 2026-2027 officers will be installed on May 21, 2026.
Officers are installed before the Department Convention, but do not assume duties until the Department Commander is installed.
VFW Post 6418 Officer positions:
1) Commander
2) Senior Vice Commander
3) Junior Vice Commander
4) Quartermaster
5) Chaplain
6) 3-Year Trustee
In the VFW, the 3-Year Trustee automatically moves up to become the 2-Year Trustee the next year, and the 2-Year Trustee then steps into the 1-Year Trustee role the following year. It’s a set process—no re-election needed—as they simply shift roles after completing their 3-Year Trustee term. Guidance for this can be found in Sections 215-217.
At the April meeting, delegates for the National Convention and the WV VFW District 2 Convention were chosen based on membership numbers as of March 31. The main rules for all St. Albans VFW Post 6418 activities come from the VFW National By-Laws and Manual of Procedure. The By-Laws lay out the basics, while the Manual of Procedure provides more detail. These guide everything the Veterans of Foreign Wars does and aren’t open to interpretation. They’re written plainly and mean exactly what they say.
Incoming officers of St. Albans VFW Post 6418 should refer to Section 218 of the Manual of Procedure, which details the responsibilities of each Post Officer.
Section 220 of the National By-Laws/Manual of Procedures, titled "Removal - Department," states that the Department Commander has the authority to remove any Post officer within their Department for cause if they fail to carry out their duties as outlined in Section 218.
