VFW POST 6418 FIRST QTR '26 RECRUITING EVENT

VFW POST 6418 RECRUITING EVENT COMING IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2026. THOSE WISHING TO ASSIST, CONTACT VFW 6418 COMMANDER. WE MAY ALSO COMBINE THE RECRUITING EVENT WITH A "VETERANS STAND DOWN" WE OFFER THE FOLLOWING VERY PRELIMINARY STRATEGIES FOR GROWTH IN 2026: Community engagement: Post 6418 will focus on community projects and outreach to increase visibility and accessibility for the public and younger veterans. Effective outreach: Post 6418 will use a multi-pronged approach to recruit members, including social media, email, and direct outreach to potential and lapsed members. Emphasizing advocacy and support: Post 6418 will highlight work to advocate for veterans' benefits and help members navigate the VA system, including the PACT Act. Our overall strength, and the area of most outstanding excellence among our current membership, is probably advocacy and support for Veterans. WILL DISCUSS ALL THIS AT UPCOMING MEETINGS AND OTHER OCCASIONS.

GRANT WRITING 101

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd, 2025 REQUEST FOR TRAINING FILED WITH WEST VIRGINIA GRANT RESOURCE CENTERS. If approved, this program will be available to the VFW Post 6418 Membership. Perhaps at either the January or February 2026 Meeting. Or we can discuss other options. The purpose of this Training is to become familiar with "Grant Preparation" for VFW Post 6418 to explore all "Grant Funds" that might be available, and for VFW Post 6418 to make an application. "Grant Writing 101" will be discussed at VFW Post 6418 on December 18th, 2025, at the Membership & Business Meeting.

BACKPACKS 4 VETERANS is VFW Post 6418's official 'Day of Service' event scheduled for May 2026. We will spend Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, collecting personal hygiene products and packing them into donated backpacks. These backpacks will be filled with personal items and distributed to homeless individuals and Veterans-in-Need. We are seeking New Backpacks in St. Albans. Please contact the Commander at VFW Post 6418 if you have New Backpacks to donate or wish to make a monetary donation to purchase backpacks.
